Plus Size Snow Day Outfit- Torrid Boots

We had snow!  I repeat we had snow in Albuquerque, New Mexico!

After living in Michigan for 22 years and moving to New Mexico I never thought I would miss snow but I do.  I don't miss the cold or darkness that is associated with snow but I miss the crisp white snow.  The peaceful feeling you get watching it fall.

I woke up to about an inch of snow and decided to have a little fun in the FJ Cruiser and do a quick outfit of the day.

Our legit height difference.  He is 6'6" and I am 5'2.5"

He was cold, ha!!

31 Day Blog Challenge- Day #4- Earliest Childhood Memory

Growing up the 2 biggest things in my life were animals and being creative.  My first memories are being in my grandparents motorhome at horse shows.  I remember one show they were raffling off a pony and I wanted it so bad!  My Grandparents bought tickets but I did not win it.  I was so sad.  I also remember driving home with my Mom after many shows.

As I got older my Grandmothers interests shifted from horses to showing dogs.  She is one of the original breeders of Shiba Inu in the US.  I remember her first black and tan Shiba Inu.  Her name was Maya and she was a fluff ball, ha!

I love Shiba Inu but as I started getting more serious into showing dogs I wanted my own breed of dog to show.  For Christmas one year my Grandma bought me my first Siberian Husky.  Her name was Callie.  A couple of years later I purchased a female named Fyr.  Fyr was my heart.  I loved the dog more than anything.  Technically she was a "throw away" dog to her breeder as she was smaller.  My "throw away" dog acquired her championship quickly, was the number 1 husky, the first female red and white #1 husky and won numerous best in shows.  Not bad ;)

As I got older, moved to New Mexico and got married Fyr followed me.  She wasn't the hugest fan of New Mexico but she enjoyed her walks, snuggle time and checking my pockets for food.

About a year and a half ago Fyr passed away.  She was 15.  I cannot put into words the void that is in my heart.  There will never be another Fyr-ball.

O goodness, this post wasn't meant to be sad.  Growing up animals and being creative were huge parts of my life.  30 years later they still are :)

31 Day Blogging Challenge- Day #3- Meaning of My Blog Name

I've been asked a couple times how and why I named my blog "Mandy Jean Chic".  The answer is pretty simple.

When I first started blogging my focus was a lifestyle blog for other law enforcement wives.  My blog was named A 37's 42.  In 10 code that means "A Officers Home/Family".  Due to crazy anti law enforcement people I didn't feel comfortable advertising my connection to law enforcement.  Having a statement under my picture that says "proud law enforcement wife" is different than naming your blog.

Also, the focus of my blog was changing to beauty, fashion, crafts and other things I found interesting or exciting.  I would often post outfit of the days on Monday and on Tuesday I would talk about our latest 4x4 adventure.  Anyone who has known me for some time knows this randomness is so Mandy Jean.

When I was born my Mom named me Amanda but growing up everyone called me Mandy or Mandy Jean.  One day I was talking to a coworker about renaming my blog and she made a comment that my outfit was really chic.  Boom!!  Mandy Jean Chic was born.

I like the name of my blog because it reflects me.  The design reflects me, the name, the style, the content... everything.  It's very Mandy Jean :)
